Stop It, Or Your Face Will Stick That Way!

I entered these pictures in the reverse order. I'm not sure why it decided to put them in backwards. Oh well.

Last night was Caleb's school's hotdog dinner and class presentations. We had fun eating hotdogs together and then had a great time watching the kids sing their songs (or in the case of Caleb's class, stand on the stage and cry or watch the other kids. Not much singing going on. But still very cute!)

Here they are coming in to perform!

Before we left our house to go to the hotdog dinner, Caleb and I played around with the camera. This is Caleb's funny face. He does it in Bible Class every Sunday morning along with his friends when we hold a mirror up and sing about how we're glad that everyone is there. I knew I could get him to do it easily since he always wants to see what he looks like when we take pictures! Too funny!

Camping

We went camping last weekend on our church's Famly Camp-out. Here are the few pictures I took. We had a great time and can't wait to go camping again!

Pumpkin Patch Pictures

Caleb had his Pumpkin Patch Pictures at school yesterday. Then they got to watch Mrs. Tresia carve a pumpkin. I stuck Caleb's hand in the pumpkin to feel inside, but he didn't much like that. It was a fun day!

Gas Prices

I'm liking seeing the gas prices fall as I drive to work and then drive home each day. It's nice to see it getting better. It's too bad it took a crummy economy to do it, but I'll take it for now!

Pumpkin Patch Pictures

After Sachse Fall Fest, we met up with Grammie to go to Owen's Farm to take Pumpkin Pictures, pet animals, go on a hay ride, etc. It was lots of fun!

Caleb with his first set of pumpkins. This is actually a pretty good smile!
Yippee! I'm in the pumpkins!
He loved to climb on the pumpkins! He just wouldn't be real still for pictures. Oh well!

Saturday: Sachse Fall Fest

We had a jam-packed day of fun on Saturday! Caleb and I started off the day by going to the Sachse Fall Fest with my grandmother. We had fun seeing everything and especially riding the train!
Caleb had his picture taken with Snoopy. I was shocked that he didn't mind Snoopy being close.
Caleb & I riding the cool train! What a great way to make money! Kids were loving this thing!
Caleb wanted to "drive" all of the antique tractors. He LOVES anything that he can drive.
Shifting gears on this neat, small tractor.
What a big smile!

Isn't It Always the Way?

Why is it that Caleb always gets sick on the days that neither Chris nor I can miss work? Yes, there are times when he gets sick that we both could take off with him just fine, but the majority of the time it seems like it is a horrible time.

My co-worker is out this week, so I really don't need to miss work. And Chris had some important business to tend to today at school. So early this morning, I got on the phone and called my parents. I'm sooo glad they live close and are pretty much able to help when we need them. They really are lifesavers!

A Good Find

Last night, my family went to eat dinner at the Ballard Street Cafe & Grill in downtown Wylie. It was great food for a good price, and we really enjoyed it.

The great find of the night was right across the street though! There is a little shop called Shoemaker & Hardt Coffee Company. http://www.coffeetexas.com It is the cutest little coffee shop/gift store. It had all kinds of very cute Christmas decorations that were really affordable. They had Tyler candles, clothing, and other gift ideas. But the really great find for my mom and I was the jewelry. They have the coolest jewelry for such a low price! I bought a necklace with earrings that are so cute, and they were only $8.95! Can't beat that!

I was thinking while I was getting ready this morning that I might wait till it gets closer to Christmas to go back and see if any of their Christmas stuff is on sale. Or maybe right after Christmas. I'm telling you, it's way cute stuff!

So, if you're needing somewhere to find cute things for people...or yourself...for Christmas gifts, this would be one idea. I may have to go back for Christmas gifts for people myself!

The SBC

I grew up in a Baptist church. I love the church that I grew up in and the people there. Chris and I probably would have kept going there after we got married if it wouldn't have been a 30-40 minute drive over there.

In all the years of growing up in a Baptist church, there were many times that I felt embarassed for the SBC. They just seem to want to express their opinion about every little thing that is going on. And quite a bit of the time, they make themselves look foolish.

Yesterday, I received an online magazine with an article talking about the SBC's view on Sarah Palin running for Vice President. Here's what it said:
"Sarah Palin’s candidacy has caused the Southern Baptist Convention to answer questions about its position regarding a women being vice president. Representatives from the SBC say Sarah Palin’s vice presidential candidacy is acceptable, but the organization still does not condone women becoming pastors or working outside the home without their husbands’ permission.
Offering explanation, most representatives say that who should serve in public office is not something the Bible addresses, unlike pastor leadership or marital roles. Similarly, they note that Todd Palin has been publicly supportive of his wife throughout her political career, including her being governor of Alaska.
The only concerns addressed about Palin seem to be whether or not her being a high-ranking federal executive will compromise her ability to care for her children, which Baptists affirm is the most important role for women.
Though the SBC does not agree with ordaining women, it leaves pastoral decisions to each autonomous church."

While I agree with most of what is being said here, I still don't get why the SBC feels the need to comment on this topic. It just seems like they might be more respected if they would just comment on truly important topics. Instead we hear from them all of the time about anything and everything.

"Wanna Go Take a Nap!"

Caleb asked to go to bed early last night. That has never happened before. He was running around playing and all of a sudden ran over to me and said "Wanna go take a nap!" (which is what he says when he is going to bed.) It was 7:30, and since he normally goes to bed at 8:00, we went ahead and let him go to bed. Chris put him to bed and said that he was out within a few minutes whereas he normally stays awake as long as you're in his room. He must have been one tired boy!

"Hey Guys!'

I'm not sure where Caleb picked it up, but yesterday when we were all in the car, he kept saying "Hey Guys!" over and over until we answered him. Then he would tell us some random thing he just saw as we were driving, or something he was just thinking about. It was pretty darn funny hearing this little (well, actually it was kind of loud) voice trying to get our attention with "Hey Guys!" I love this age!

Pumpkin Shirt Day

Today is pumpkin shirt day for Caleb. It's October 1st, so it's time to start wearing all pumpkin shirts! And since you only get to wear them for a month, it's time to start wearing them often! I told Caleb last night that he could wear his new pumpkin shirt today (he's been wanting to wear it since I got it), and this morning when he woke up, the first thing he said was "Wear pumpkin shirt today?" I said "Yes you can!" So, of course, in honor of pumpkin shirt day, we had to take some pictures. Enjoy!
