Christmas Music

I listen to KLTY quite a bit. It's not my favorite station in the world, but it's what I grew up listening to, so that's what I listen to most of the time. I love Christmas music and want to listen to it the day after Thanksgiving. I just wish they wouldn't play it almost constantly the whole Christmas season. I would still like to hear more rest-of-the-year music mixed in with the Christmas selections. So this time of year, I find myself flipping to other stations more often than I normally do just to get a break from the Christmas music. Just a few more non-Christmas songs an hour would be great!

Also, I think Christmas Wish is great and a wonderful idea. The stories are heart wrenching and glorious. But I also find myself turning the station at times when these are playing just because I don't want to be bawling in the car. Especially when I'm on the way to work. I don't want to have to walk in to work after crying in the car. So, while I think they are wonderful and beautiful stories, sometimes I just can't handle listening to them. Maybe I'm just a wuss, but there you have it.

Great Tunes

Last night as I was running, I was listening to my mp3 player. Awhile back I went through all of my old cds and put all the songs on there that had upbeat tempos that would be good to run to. I haven't reached the end of the songs on there yet. But last night, I got to the Jars of Clay songs.

Now, these are cds from when I was in middle school and high school, but the music on those cds are GREAT! While running, I was singing my head off (while huffing and puffing). I think the lyrics of their songs are so great, and the music and harmonies seem genius to me. It even got me thinking about writing music again (not that I've written any, but I've thought about it before).

I'm not sure if I like these songs so much just because I knew them way back when, or if I heard them now for the first time I would like them just as much. But all I know is that I had a blast last night running to some of my old favorites.

It made it a good run.

Song Lyrics

I have had these song lyrics running in my head for a really, really long time now:

Be careful what you wish for
Because you just might get it
And then some you don't want.

This is a Chris Daughtry song, and these words have been stuck in my head.

Has there been a time in your life where something like this happened in your life?

Hello Texas!!!

This morning as we were listening to the radio while we were getting ready, a Michael W. Smith song was playing. In this particular song, there is an instrumental introduction, and right before he starts singing he says, "Hello Texas!" Of course, the crowd then goes wild.

This made me wonder to myself why we have this kind of response when a performer does this. In all of the times that I have been to concerts, I am right along screaming with everyone else. It sort of struck me funny this morning as I was thinking about it, and Chris and I discussed why we think we have this kind of response. I just think it is kind of funny that we all have the desire to scream and go crazy when we hear this!
