This Morning

On our way to school everyday, Caleb and I sing songs, play games, count, say our ABC's...just have fun! I like to use this time as a big educational time. I figure that I've got him as a captive audience, so I use that time to my advantage. Many of the things he has learned so far have been things that I have taught him in the car on the way to school.

This morning, we were playing a game with a bracelet that we had left in the car from Wednesday night. I would put the bracelet on my head and ask "Does the bracelet go on my head?" Caleb would respond with "Noooo!" I then put the bracelet on my leg, on my hear, on my nose, on my chin, on my shoulder, on the steering wheel...you get the picture. Then when I finally put it on my arm, he would say "Yesss!" It's a pretty fun game! :)

The funny thing was that while we were sitting at a stop light on 78, a truck full of lawn workers was next to us. I didn't realize they were there as I was playing my silly game. So after I had put the bracelet on my nose, I saw some movement in the car next to me. I looked over and the whole truck of men was laughing at me. I just smiled at them and kept playing the game. I'm glad I could give them some entertainment on their way to work! Just one silly mommy entertaining her kid on the way to school!

Messy Fun & Fun With Balls

On Monday night, we went to eat dinner at Chili's. My mom and I gave Caleb some of our pasta for dinner, and he made a complete mess of it....and was very proud of the mess!
His hands were soooo yucky!
On Wednesday night, Caleb had a blast playing in the balls at our church party. I've never seen him so excited about something like this, but he was going crazy! He kept crawling, rolling around, standing up and throwing himself in the balls! It was fun to see him have such a good time!

Our Weekend/Sunday - Reading the Church Bulletin "Book"

Caleb decided he wanted to read the church bulletin this past Sunday from cover to cover. He thought it was the coolest thing and went around calling it his "book". He then saw another lady with a bulletin and said "Mrs. Ruby has a book!" What fun it is to see the little things that he takes joy in!

My Nails

I have the worst nails in the world! Well, maybe not the worst. That is probably an exaggeration. But they sure are bad.

I had been trying to grow my nails out for a few weeks for my friend Megan's wedding. And I had some decently long nails before that even. So, they looked pretty darn good (for my nail standards) for the wedding.

But the problem with my nails is that they are extremely thin. They had reached their maximum length, I guess, because all of a sudden I had three of them crack a few days ago. I let it go until last night when I was carrying a big box, and one of them snapped in half. It was then time to chop all my nails off. So now I have short, short nails. I haven't had them this short in...well, I don't remember when...maybe 10 years or so. And since they are so short, they are driving me nuts! Man, how I wish I had better nails!

Inadvertently Teaching Caleb to Pray

  1. Yesterday afternoon, Caleb and I decided to go visit Grandaddy in the hospital. We had to travel down 75 which was pretty traffic-y. At one point, the cars in front of me stopped extremely fast. I had to slam on my brakes, and I probably nearly missed the car in front of me by millimeters. My adrenaline was pumping, and I said "Thank you, God!" Of course, I immediately start hearing "Thank you, God!" in the back seat. I used that as a teaching moment to tell Caleb that we should thank God for everything and that we should really thank Him more than we really do.
  2. After going to visit Grandaddy, Caleb kept saying "Grandaddy hurt." (Grandaddy fell and broke his hip.) I also turned this into a lesson by telling Caleb that when he thinks about Grandaddy, he should pray "God, please make Grandaddy better!" Then, of course, over the next few minutes I heard that line over and over.

It's amazing the teaching moments that come up constantly with Caleb. It is so fun to see everything that he is learning and to hear his little thoughts. What a blessing!

Our Weekend/Friday

We had a wonderful weekend! Since it was Caleb's birthday weekend, it was packed full of fun!
Friday afternoon, Caleb's class had a party and got to eat cupcakes for his birthday! They all really enjoyed the cupcakes and were m-e-s-s-y! I'm sure all the other parents were real excited about those cupcakes too!
Caleb about to eat his cupcake!
Another smile before the eating begins!
Dig in! Of course they all went for the icing first! I think that it really the only part that Caleb ate.

Yum! Cupcakes!
