Making No Sense

Splenda. If it tastes like sugar and is made from sugar, how is it not sugar? I just don't get it!

Caleb's First Day in 2A

Caleb moved up to 2A yesterday! He had a great first day and had fun playing with his friends. His teachers this year are Mrs. Caren & Mrs. Kathryn. We are looking forward to another great year! As you can see below, we have entered the stage of silly smiling!

The Inevitable

The inevitable happened last night. I knew it was coming. I just didn't know when.

As I was gathering laundry last night to take upstairs and put away, I ran into one of Caleb's toys on the floor. Honestly, I'm surprised that I made it over two years without this happening. Normally I make sure there is at least an aisle through the the madness so that I know where to walk. And really, there were not many toys out last night. I just forgot that one was there and ran smack into it! I now have a lovely, big bruise on my shin to show for it.

Thank you nice Kroger man!

I had to go to Kroger this morning to pick up a few things. I didn't think I was going to need a "buggy" (as I like to call it), so I passed them up at the front door. I then decided as I walked into the main part of the store that I wanted some coffee...they have a cappuccino machine there. So, already, I had one hand in use.

Then I went over to the aisle to pick up what I needed. It started worrying me a little because I realized I was going to need more than I thought. But I thought I could handle it anyway.

Luckily there was a nice man on the aisle who saw me putting some stuff on the floor while I was looking around. He asked if I wanted a shopping cart to which I said "That would be great!" So, he went and got a cart for me. Wasn't that nice! When people do something nice for me, it makes me want to turn around and do nice things for others.

Did I close the garage?

I hate the feeling after I've just pulled out of my driveway that I did not close my garage. I have had this feeling a couple of times lately. And the thing is, when I have this feeling I will not go any further. I always have to turn around, drive back home and check the garage. I've never left it open, but it always just feels better to go ahead and check anyway. But it's so frustrating when I have that feeling and know I have to turn around!

Lately

Here are some pictures of Caleb lately.

Olympics

I love the Olympics! I love the pride that I feel for the USA and it's atheletes. I love the sense of the world coming together...even if it is to try to beat each other. I love the stories about the athletes' lives...about how they've had to sacrifice, etc. I just love the Olympics! I wish they could come around more often than every four years. The summer Olympics, anyway.

Mommy & Daddy's Little Helper

Caleb loves shoes. And he loves to help out. So, Chris and I encourage his helpfulness. We can ask Caleb to go and get us a certain pair of shoes out of the closet and he knows exactly which ones to bring out. It's great! He LOVES helping and making us happy, so he LOVES doing this!

This morning as I was getting ready, I asked him if he could bring me my black sandals. So, he went in the closet and brought them out. It saved me some time, and I was proud of him for helping me out!

Jesus Loves Caleb. Caleb Loves Santa.

Ok, I know you're all wondering what the deal is with the title.

This morning as Caleb and I were driving to school, we sang our normal songs. After singing "Jesus Loves Me", I said to Caleb, "Jesus loves Caleb!" To this he said, "I love Santa!"

I sat there for a second wondering why in the world he just said that. I'm still not sure. But I immediately told him that we don't love Santa. We love Jesus. And God. So, then he started saying, "I love God. Not Santa!"

The kid cracks me up sometimes!

Lots of Cars

Earlier today, I went on an errand. While I was out, I was shocked at how many cars were on the road. Why aren't people at work? Or at home? Do that many people really need to be on the road during the middle of the day? Isn't it amazing how many cars are out there? Crazy!

My Two Year Old Teenager

There are many things that Caleb has done from a very early age that made me say "Man, my baby already acts like a teenager!" This morning, we had another one of those instances.

I went in to wake Caleb up to get ready for school. I whispered, "Caleb!" a few times. He moved a little bit but wasn't willing to wake up yet. So I rubbed his back and whispered "Caleb!" again. He then barely opened his eyes, looked at me, and said "What!"

Chris and I just looked at each other and smiled. I and I thought to myself "I can't believe he just said that!"

These are the times that I'm glad I'm blogging so that I can record these little funny things that happen in our lives. It'll be fun to look back on when Caleb really is a teenager or an adult.

A Good Sale

Why is it that when I hear of a good sale from someone, I feel the need to go shopping?! I heard of one last night, and I immediately thought "Man, I need to get over there!" But then I thought about it a second more and realized, "Wait, a second! I don't really need anything right now." Now I guess you could make the argument that I could go shopping for the next sizes for Caleb, but really I don't NEED to do that.

So, I think I'll pass on this one. But if you hear of any other good sales going on, let me know! :)

One Successful Attempt

**Warning** This post contains potty training talk. If you don't like potty training talk, you may not want to read any further! Shoot, if it wasn't my kid, I probably wouldn't much like potty training talk, so I really don't blame you.

We've been talking about the potty in our house for awhile now. Caleb has thought it was fun to go sit on the potty every once in awhile, but we haven't had much success. Yeah, there have been a few times where he has gone, but really, we probably were just really lucky then.

A few nights ago, Caleb told me that he needed to go to the potty while we were at the pool with some friends. He had sort of already gone in his diaper, but he needed to do some more business. I thought that was good that he at least told me about that.

Then tonight, he said he needed to go to the potty. So I took him in there. We sat there for quite awhile, but I didn't think he was doing anything because he just kept cracking up laughing the whole time about silly stuff he was doing. But when he said he was done and got up off the potty I was shocked! He had both gone pee and poo poo! I was so proud of him! We did the "potty dance", and we even had some ice cream because of it.

It was a successful night at the Carroll house!
